As a former teacher, I love every opportunity I get to visit schools and connect with students, teachers, and librarians! I offer a variety of in-person and virtual options for preschool, primary, and intermediate levels. My school visits focus on Grace and Box, which is the best fit book for PreK-5th grade.
Kim Howard’s Author Visit Options
For individual classrooms or groups. All sessions include a reading of Grace and Box, an age-appropriate author presentation, and a Q&A time.
PreK Imagination Session (20 minutes)
K-1st Grade “Changes Don’t Have to be a Bad Thing” Session (30 minutes)

4th-5th Grade Becoming an Author Session (30 minutes)
6th Grade and Up: An Author’s Journey Session (45 minutes; this session does not include a reading)
Literacy Night/ Family Night/ Community Night Presentation (30 minute presentation, 30 minute book signing/ meet and greet time)
Free Virtual Author Q&A (15 minutes; For any classes who have read GRACE AND BOX. Sessions take place over Zoom.)

“I have had the privilege of coordinating with Ms. Howard for two different author visits. She first came to visit a group of about 75 Kindergarteners. Her presentation was very engaging! She shared about her journey as an author and gave students a chance to turn and talk to find differences in the illustrations before and after changes were made.
Ms. Howard also talked about changes she decided to make to her first story when working through the publishing process. Our students really enjoyed learning how changes can be helpful and that sometimes it takes a few changes to get to your best work.
It was such an enjoyable experience that I asked if she could come visit my new building to present to all our K-2 students. Although it was a larger group, she was easily able to include the students in discussion. It was very interactive and she had students making connections to the story by talking about a time they had played with a box.
Ms. Howard even offered to meet up at a later date with signed books for teachers and students that were wanting a signed copy following the visit.
